THE FROZEN FJORDS | NORWAY

$ 2,250.00 USD

Where the mountains crash into the Arctic Sea, and silence speaks louder than words. This isn’t your average winter escape. It’s a raw, wild mission into the snow-laced fjords of Northern Norway—where splitboarding meets the sea, and every ride ends with a view that steals your breath. Think: untouched lines, deep solitude, and nature in its most dramatic form.

Details

Above the Arctic Circle, light bends differently - soft, sharp, fleeting. Here, freeriding feels less like a sport and more like moving through a painting that’s alive only for a moment.

THE CONCEPT

Frozen Fjords Camp is for riders chasing something different - raw nature, cinematic views, and freedom far from the crowds.
We base ourselves in the remote fishing village of Gryllefjord and strike out each day by van or boat to chase lines where no one else rides.
No lift lines. No noise. Just snow, sea, and sky. This isn’t a resort - it’s wilderness riding at its finest.

THE TERRAIN

Senja’s got everything. From mellow, rolling powder fields to technical chutes and steep couloirs, it’s a choose-your-own-adventure island.
Whether you're just stepping into the backcountry game or you've been hunting lines for years - there's something here that'll light you up.

OUR PLAYGROUND

Norway’s best-kept secret. They call Senja “Norway in miniature” for a reason: endless ridgelines, towering fjords, and powder-filled bowls stretching into the Arctic sky.
The snowpack is reliable, especially late season when ocean storms deliver dream conditions inland - and if you're lucky, even right by the fjords.

ACCOMMODATION

Our base? Senja Camp, the island’s largest fishing lodge - modern, comfortable, and perfectly remote.

  • Double rooms with single beds, private bathroom, towels and linens included
  • Full kitchen with a view over the fjord

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: 6/10

Senja requires good fitness and strong backcountry legs.
The snow can be deep, and the climbs can sting. You should be confident off-piste, ready for mixed snowpack, and able to manage your own movement in challenging terrain. Not quite beginner territory.

RIDE PROFILE

Touring / Splitboarding: 80%
Freeride: 20%

All descents require skinning. Bring touring gear (splitboard or AT skis), proper layers, and a mindset built for adventure.
The approach is part of the reward.

SAFETY & GUIDES

> You’ll be led by local mountain guides who know these peaks like home and lead all groups
> Our expedition leader ensures smooth logistics and communication
> Avalanche safety gear (beacon, shovel, probe) is mandatory and non-negotiable, you must know how to use it - we recommend a pre-trip avalanche course
> An avalanche airbag backpack is strongly advised (available for rental - reservation required)
> Daily avalanche briefings + route planning
